Together with an architect, my mother designed this house, which was built just over three years ago. It is set on seven beautiful acres of flat land amidst rolling green farmland.
I think the colours and design blend into the landscape beautifully; the house looks as though it belongs here. It is built with two 'wings' -- one with three guest bedrooms and a bathroom, the other containing the lounge, main bedroom and ensuite -- coming out from the large central family room and kitchen.

Generally guests enter up the little path from the circular gravel drive, which is lined with ornamental pear trees. These display glorious foliage in autumn.

Then knock on the front door, which has stained-glass windows designed by my sister, showing native parrots and eucalyptus leaves.

And turn left into the formal lounge, where a fire is lit in winter. This is my favourite room in the house; pretty and elegant, with big sunny windows that look out onto the sweep of garden.
